The learning contines

Published on: May 20, 2025

If I’m being honest, it’s been tough lately. I built this blog to showcase my skills and document my journey, but some days it feels like it's all for nothing. With the rise of AI, a flooded job market, and an uncertain economy, I sometimes wonder if it’s even worth pouring more time into learning. Recently, I closed my open source ticket after realizing I just didn’t have the support I needed to fix the bug. I see the value in contributing to open source, but as a beginner, it was overwhelming. I’ve been working on a FastAPI backend skill tracker, but I keep running into roadblocks that make me question if I’m making any progress at all. (Looking at you async testing). What I’m learning is that sometimes you have to take a step back. I’m realizing how important it is to return to the basics—HTTPS, core Python, data structures, algorithms. That’s going to be my focus for now. I hope that, eventually, the job market will improve and I’ll get a shot at those elusive coding interviews. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this, and sometimes it feels like it’s not enough. Maybe I’ll need to think outside the box—try something entrepreneurial, or push myself even further out of my comfort zone. I don’t have all the answers right now, but the feeling and enjoyment of seeing something work and the "ah ha" moments of understanding a concept keep bringing me back. Who knows if this will ever turn into anything more than a hobby. Only time will tell.
